A quick note before you read this

This policy explains what happens with the information you share when you visit childtherapycenterla.com. It covers the website only. It is not the same as our Notice of Privacy Practices, which is the document that governs how we protect your family's health information once you become a client of the practice under HIPAA. If you are already working with us, that notice is the one that applies to your child's care records.

We wrote this in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, reach out and we will walk you through it.

Who we are

Child Therapy Center of LA (“we,” “us,” or “the practice”) is a child and family therapy practice based in California. This policy applies to our website at childtherapycenterla.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly. When you fill out a form, book a call, or email us, we collect what you provide. This usually includes your name, email address, phone number, and anything you choose to write in the message field, such as the reason you are reaching out or a few details about your child or family.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit the site, our tools collect standard technical information, such as your device type, browser, general location (a city or region based on your IP address, not a precise location), the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies.

We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Our website is meant for parents and caregivers, not for kids.

Cookies and tracking technologies

Cookies are small files a website places on your device. We use them to keep the site working, to understand how visitors use it, and to support our advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of advertising cookies using the links further down in this policy.

Analytics and advertising

We work with a few third-party tools to run and grow the practice:

• Google Analytics helps us see how families find and move through our site so we can make it better.
• Google Ads lets us show our services to people searching for the kind of help we offer, and helps us measure whether our ads are working.
• The Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel helps us reach families on those platforms and understand which ads lead to a connection.

These tools may set cookies and collect the technical information described above. They do not receive the content of what you write in our contact form. You can opt out of this kind of advertising using the options in the “Your choices” and “Your California privacy rights” sections below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• respond to your message and help you figure out if we are the right fit for your family
• schedule and follow up on calls and appointments
• run, maintain, and improve our website
• understand how families find us so we can reach more of them
• send you information you asked for, and, if you opt in, occasional updates about our programs
• meet our legal and professional obligations

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information in a few limited ways:

• With service providers who help us run the practice and the website, such as our website host, our scheduling and intake tools, and our email and communication systems. These providers may only use your information to do work for us.
• With advertising and analytics platforms (Google and Meta) as described above. Under California law, this counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands. You can opt out.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.

Where we work with vendors that may handle health information as part of your care, we put the required agreements in place to keep that information protected.

Your choices

You can:

• Turn off or delete cookies in your browser settings.
• Opt out of personalized Google ads at Google's Ad Settings (myadcenter.google.com).
• Adjust your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
• Opt out of many advertising cookies at once through the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) and the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org).
• Use a browser or extension that sends a Global Privacy Control signal. We treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of sharing.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under California law, including the CCPA as amended by the CPRA:

• The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share.
• The right to access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• The right to delete personal information we have collected, with some exceptions.
• The right to opt out of the “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• The right to limit how we use sensitive personal information.
• The right not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

Some of the health information we handle as part of caring for your child is already protected under HIPAA and California's medical privacy law (the CMIA). Where those laws apply, they govern that information instead of the CCPA.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. Because we use advertising tools that California treats as “sharing,” you can opt out of that sharing at any time. To do so, adjust your cookie choices, use a Global Privacy Control signal, or contact us at hello@childtherapycenterla.com and we will take care of it for you.

How long we keep your information

We keep the information you share with us only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, to run the practice, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Health and treatment records are kept according to the retention rules that apply to healthcare providers in California.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No website can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously, especially given the families we serve.

Children's privacy

Our website is intended for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this site. If you believe a child has provided us information through the website, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our website may link to other sites, such as scheduling tools or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those other sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If we make a significant change, we will make that clear on the site.
